Research

In addition to my work on the history of the National Student Association, I have a number of other areas of research interest.

In the field of student history, I have long been interested in the history of student government, the rise of state and system student associations in the 1970s, and the modern-day conception of students as consumers of a higher education product. I've also done some research into the Veterans of Future Wars craze of the 1930s as part of a broader exploration of student pranks and other forms of ostensibly apolitical student agitation.

Beyond the walls of the university, I've done considerable biographical research into the lives of civil rights activist William L. Moore and Idaho newspaper editor Bill Johnston.

I have begun to work collaboratively on a few projects recently, and I'm always eager to hear from people working on similar projects. If you have questions or comments about any aspect of my work, or you're doing work you think I'd be interested in, let me know.
